No, if its a remake or upgrade absolutely. If it is just a port or emulation no point for them to do so.
@Vinomen
I have some that aren't ports but I guess for some people it gives them a reason to play the game again, or buy it. I've never been a trophy hunter, but I think it's a nice little compliment to the game.
I am all for trophies in games, but to me if I'm paying money for an older game it is already to replay it. I don't really need any trophy incentive. I cant count the number of Nintendo titles I have repurchased across there plethora of consoles and handhelds just to replay them with no incentive other than to play awesome games.
Plus lets be honest sony isn't going to spend money to re-engineer trophies into old games, most of which they did not develop anyways. However I could see them offering Trophies for using the Playstation Now Service.
In all honesty, I think that possibility is coming soon. In the link provided, check out the section toward the bottom below "BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION."tell me do you think ps1 and ps2 games should have trophies?
[0006]Finding new ways to play preexisting video games can increase the longevity of older games. Instead of replaying the same level or completing the same missions repeatedly, gamers often desire new challenges when replaying legacy games. In response to this need, game designers have begun to produce mini-games. Within a mini-game, the gamer can be instructed to complete new objectives or challenge their friends for high scores in a format that was not originally designed into the legacy game. Further, since the mini-game is derived from a legacy game, the gamer already knows the characters and basic components of the game, and is therefore more likely to play the mini-game.
Patents =/= comingIn all honesty, I think that possibility is coming soon. In the link provided, check out the section toward the bottom below "BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION."
The context seems to be to place mini-games into legacy titles, but trophies could be considered 'new objectives,' right?
Agreed. I know we never got the PS(?) controller that changed textures either, and we probably never will (maybe that was an attempt to do patent trolling on porn companies one day?). I'm just throwing the possibility out there. :-DPatents =/= coming
Patents are cranked out so that a company doesn't get sued for doing stuff. Patents are leverage and not much more.
